You do not claim child support on you federal taxes…it is not considered income. On you state tax, however, there is a spot where you put how much you have received, but no forms are necessary.

WRONG. you do have to claim the money (you’ll see the section where they require it), but it is not taxable or deductable.

and no, you dont have to wait for any papers. just go file any time you are ready/want to. the children you can claim as dependents.
